A 39-year-old man is dead after a vehicle accident near Polson Saturday night, Montana Highway Patrol officials say.

According to the Highway Patrol, the Polson man was southbound at a high rate of speed in a 2006 BMW 650 on Kerr Dam Road around 11 p.m. Saturday night when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve while passing. His car left the road, hit an embankment, and was launched 80 to 100 feet in the air before coming to rest in a field.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway Patrol officials say alcohol, drugs and speeding are all suspected in the accident.
