SANDPOINT — The Corner Bookstore is opening another chapter.

The independent book store is slated to reopen on Wednesday at its new location at the 405 N. Fourth Ave.

Everything in the store will be on sale with discounts of 20 to 50 percent, said owner Jim Orbaugh.

Orbaugh was concerned he might not be able to reopen the downtown fixture after clothing retailer Finan McDonald expanded its store last fall.

However, Orbaugh found a suitable corner location that’s not off the beaten path.

The store did a soft reopening last month after 424 cases, each weighing 40-80 pounds, were transferred from the Corner Bookstore’s original location on North First Avenue at Main Street.

“I’ve got a lot of people to thank,” Orbaugh said.

Those people include Patti and Carl Pietron, and Patrick Feyen. Orbaugh said they were “tremendous” for their assistance in the move. Orbaugh said he’s also grateful to Finan McDonald owner Ben Tate for assisting with moving expenses.
