It's time for a change

Past and recent actions by the City Council, especially Councilmen Voth and Ecret, have raised questions as to where their loyalty and direction is taking them. This should cause concern among Moses Lake residents to their desires – is it for Moses Lake, or personal satisfaction? It’s time for a change.

Recent letters to the editor (future letters also) bring words into play like “bait and switch,” “underhanded,” “unethical,” “sneaky.” It is a shame that this has to happen. But in reality, it is the truth. With Councilman Ecret, and his right hand Councilman Voth, I have never seen so much deceit and backroom politics. They have cost us money and respect. Is this good for Moses Lake? I think not. It’s time for a change.

I proudly served the City of Moses Lake for over 30 years (Planning Commission 12 years, City Council 18 years) and in all that time, I never once saw any of the backstabbing, politicking, and closed-door meetings that take place today. Though not always united in vote, the councils I served with were united in direction and friendship. It seems to me that Ecret and Voth have moved away from being a voice of the citizens to a direction of personal satisfaction and gratification. It’s time for a change.

Moses Lake is the best city in our state. We are growing, thriving and proud, but not because of our City Council. We have a fractious council and with the upcoming elections we (you) have the ability to make change. Bring back the pride our city had and retire both Ecret and Voth. Look favorably toward the new candidates running for office. This is the change we need. It’s time for a change.
