Kalispell woman killed in motorcycle accident

A South Kalispell firefighter is dead as a result of a motorcycle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon.
South Kalispell firefighter Abbie Delaney Jones, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 12:30 p.m. after her motorcycle hit an SUV driven by a 94-year-old Washington woman at the intersection of Montana 35 and Helena Flats Road.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol report, the Washington woman allegedly stopped at the intersection before pulling out, turning eastbound on Montana 35, into the path of Jones’ motorcycle.
The report states that Jones and her 11-year-old male passenger were unable to avoid the SUV and crashed into the side of the vehicle.
Jones was killed instantly, and the passenger was injured and transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.
His condition is not currently known, but his injuries appeared non-life threatening.
The male passenger was wearing a helmet, but Jones was not.
The female driver of the SUV was uninjured, and it is unclear whether she was wearing a seatbelt.
The accident is still under investigation.
