At 11:00 a.m. Saturday, when the annual AVFD Pancake Breakfast was scheduled to wrap up, customers were still lined up out the door and down the street while the tables inside were filled to capacity.

Board members tallying the amount of breakfasts served estimated that the number served exceed 500. That is quite a turnout for the small town.

In addition to the pancake breakfast, the AVFD also had a silent auction and a raffle for a quilt, and donations were accepted in rubber boots.

The annual event marks the single fundraiser for the department and by all accounts this year’s breakfast was a huge success.
