The annual Chicken Jamboree at Thompson Falls was once again a hit with the local community.

President of the local Men’s Prayer Group, Don Burrell, said that in preparation of this years event they ordered more chicken to ensure no one went without a plate.

The event is now in it’s 27th year, with all money raised going towards mission work that the group will take part in.

Some funds will go right back to the community in other ways, whether it be a student in need, or a person in need, they said they do not tie the money to one place or another.

“The first thing we do, straight away, is give 10 percent of the money raised to helping hands,” said Burrell.

“Local businesses are so instrumental in us being able to put on this Jamboree in the park for the community. From Harvest Foods making sure we didn’t buy out all the chicken, to Clark Fork Meats who pre-cooked the chicken for us before the event. We just can’t thank everyone involved enough,” continued Burrell.

Pastor Charlie also whipped up his home recipe of baked beans which could be seen on nearly every plate.

Two local schools also aided in the days events, a small group of boys from Wood Creek Academy were there to help dish out the BBQ lunch while a group of girls from Reflections All Girls School took care of the face painting activity for kids of all ages.

“We try to do a lot of community based events as the girls really love to be involved,” said Kaleena Bonnes staff member from Reflections All Girls School.

Families for the Coalition where also helping out with the face painting, being able to provide supplies and connect with the community as well.

From the acoustics of Grace and Katie (both whom attend Reflections All Girls School), to Dave Skinner and his grandson, to many members of the community taking part in singing and dancing,

No matter your walk of life, there was the atmosphere to ignite a great Saturday spent with friends and family at the Chicken Jamboree in Thompson Falls.
