MOSES LAKE — Anyone who wants to know what’s going on at this year’s Grant County Fair will now have another resource right at their fingertips — a smartphone app.
“The world is sort of app-based, so county fairs have followed suit,” said Grant County Fair Director Mickey Webb.
The Grant County Fair app, which is now available through iTunes and Google Play at no cost, currently features a schedule of stage performers, menus for food vendors, a fairgrounds map, and a link to buy tickets. However, Webb said it is a work in progress and updates will be released as the county fair gets closer.
“We’ve got the design down, and we’re now in the process of populating the data,” Webb said.
Webb said the fair paid Grandstand Apps, a Lincoln, Neb., based company that specializes in creating customized apps for organizations as varied as fairs and churches, $1,000 to create the app.
“This is our first time to develop an app,” he said.
Webb said the app is primarily for fair, and doesn’t yet have any information for the Moses Lake Roundup.
“We’ve not figured out a way to tie the rodeo into this, but the master calendar will have the rodeo calendar,” he said.
