Sanders County’s K-9 Officer, Max, just received a $500 Walmart grant, all thanks to his handler, Sanders County Sheriff’s Deputy Lynn Lanzoni.

Lanzoni says that he had heard there were grants that he could apply for with companies like Walmart, so he started looking around.

He came across this particular grant and submitted the requirements via the web.

After receiving the grant, Handler Lanzoni is looking to put the money towards training clinics for he and Max.

Lanzoni mentioned that it was important to both he and Max to get to these trainings and that this grant will help with the fees of participating, lodging and travel, as well as other smaller expenses.

The Sanders County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit not only works as a part of the Sheriff’s Department, but is also called to help local Police Departments and, on occasion, Highway Patrol within Sanders County.

K-9 Officer Max has been working with Lanzoni for three years and will turn 4-years-old in January.

The duo first met when Lanzoni went to Texas to view Max as a pup through a private vendor.

Since then, they both have continued ongoing training through simulated exercises each week at different locations and attend re-certification once each year.

Lanzoni says Max loves his job as a Narcotics K-9 and they keep busy by serving the County the best they can.
