SANDPOINT — Rest up, entertainment buffs — this week is spilling over with summer fun!

Live music lights up local venues starting tonight and going right through the weekend, the Panida has a cool film festival for dog lovers there are several great concerts in the area, including the Irish group Runa at DiLuna’s (ain’t that fun to say?), Baja Boogie Band at Ol’ Red’s Pub and blues singer David Gerald at the Pearl Theater up in Bonners Ferry.

Thursday, July 27

Bright Moments Jazz

Venue: Trinity at City Beach, 58 Bridge St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6-9 p.m.

Does it get any better? Summer in Sandpoint and Bright Moments playing their jazz on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille? This must be paradise!

Admission: Free and open to all diners and bar patrons at Trinity.

Kevin Dorin

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6 p.m.

Come out for the Thursday night solo music series featuring this local favorite.

Liam Kyle Cahill

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m.

This young troubadour’s adventurous spirit has carried him all over the world, and there are few acoustic artists who can hold a candle to his powerful performances, contained within it whip-smart lyrics and earnest guitar chops.

Herb Alpert & Lani Hall

Venue: Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, 1001 W. Sprague Ave., in Spokane.

Time: 8 p.m.

Herb Alpert is the legendary Tijuana Brass trumpeter who’s won nine Grammy Awards and sold millions of albums. His wife, Lani Hall, is a Grammy Award-winning vocalist and former lead singer of Sergio Mendes’ Brazil ’66. Alpert and Hall, married since 1973, have been touring with their band since 2006. This is your chance to catch the pair’s performance at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox.

David Walsh

Baja Boogie Band

Venue: Ol’ Red’s Pub, 202 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7 p.m.

You know for a fact that fun will be had when this hot local band makes its musical magic. They’ve toured extensively and opened for major stars — it’s pretty cool to catch them here on their home turf.

Admission: $5 at the door.

Runa

Venue: DiLuna’s Cafe, 207 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

Quickly gaining recognition as one of Irish music’s new “super-groups,” Runa has been enchanting audiences by pushing the boundaries of Irish folk music into the Americana and roots music formats since their formation in 2008. Interweaving the haunting melodies and exuberant tunes of Ireland and Scotland with the lush harmonies and intoxicating rhythms of jazz, bluegrass, flamenco and blues, they offer a thrilling and redefining take on traditional music.

DJ Josh, one of Sandpoint’s favorite DJ’s who will be playing a selection of your favorite tunes on the patio.

Beat Diggers

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7 p.m.

The Beat Diggers share cool tunes, ear candy harmonies, and epic rock and roll. This band of innovators includes lead guitarist and vocalist Benny Baker, drummer Ali Maverick Thomas, Christine Kester, Mike (Big Dog) Poulin, Rob Smith, and whoever may stoke the stage to instigate true musical treats.

David Gerald

Venue: Pearl Theater, 7160 Ash St., in Bonners Ferry.

Time: Doors open at 6:30 p.m., concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

Blues singer David Gerald started playing guitar at the age of 15, influenced by Prince and ‘80s rock guitarists. He rediscovered the blues and listened to the music of Albert King, ZZ Hill, B.B. King, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, to name just a few.
