Delaney, McCready represent Lady Vikes at state

The Charlo girls, boys track team entered the Class A & C track meet as one of the teams with the most storied tradition at the state meet Thursday through Friday at the Laurel Complex at Laurel High School.

The Charlo girls team entered with not only tradition but one of their top commodities, Allie Delaney.

Delaney participated in a grand total of six track and field events, including four individual events at state.

Delaney, who finished with a total of seven first-place finishes during the regular season in the 300-meter hurdles, captured second in the 300 and recorded a time of 47.72 seconds.

Delaney had three more top-10 individual performances at State including a 9th place finish in the 200-meter hurdles with a time of 28.18 seconds, and a 9th place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.49 seconds.

Delaney was also a member of the 4X100 relay team and the 4X400 relay team that all season was known for its speed. The 4X100 relay team that consisted of Kaitlin Cox, Tyrah Hammond, and Kara Tatukivei had two first-place finishes as a team in the regular season. The group finished 8th in the State relay with a time of 52.13 seconds.

Delaney was also a member of the 4X400 relay team that consisted of Tatukivei, Nagy, Hammond and Delaney with a time of 4 minutes, 23.16 seconds, en route to an 8th place finish.

McCready excel 800, pole vault

Charlo High School’s Taylor McCready finished in the top 10 in the pole vault competition.

McCready, who qualified for two state events, finished 13th in the 800-meter with a time of 2 minutes, 34.50 seconds. She also finished 7th with a leap of 8 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault.
