KNPS hosting native plant sale
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 7 years, 8 months AGO
Come celebrate Arbor Day as the Kinnikinnick Native Plant Society hosts its annual native plant sale on Saturday, June 3. The sale will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Native Plant Arboretum in Lakeview Park, next to the Bonner County History Museum in Sandpoint.
KNPS will be having a short ceremony presented by the Sandpoint Tree Committee, a proclamation by the mayor, and a newly planted tree in the park to celebrate Sandpoint’s 21st year as a Tree City USA.
Immediately following the presentation, the sale will begin with a wide variety of native trees, shrubs and perennials from Cedar Mountain Perennials and Greentree Naturals, as well as bluebird houses, garden trugs, and other items. There will also be a delicious assortment of baked goods freshly made by our dedicated volunteers.
During the week, third graders from area schools have been touring the arboretum with Mary Toland and other gardeners. Information is presented on tree habitats, health, and history by examining slices of tree trunks.
While there, be sure to stop in the Bonner County History Museum to see their new exhibit “Once upon a time in Bonner County” which is opening that day. It is the first Saturday of the month, which means there is no admission charged.
