Libby has 2 B-C all-state softball stars

Class B-C state softball runner-up Libby had two girls receive all-state and first-team all-conference (Westen B-C) recognition for the spring 2017 season.

They are senior shortstop Madisen Monigold and senior pitcher Khalyn Hageness.

Brianne Hoffman and Chloe Arthur of state champ Florence were also named all-state and first-team all-conference players.

Libby’s Jayden Winslow, Eureka’s Rylee Morgan and Avory Escobar and Ronan’s Courtnee Clairmont were selected to the Western B-C all-conference second team.

Florence (24-5) defeated Libby (23-8) 9-3 in state title game in Frenchtown on May 27.

The three Northwest A teams that competed at last month’s state tournament in Sidney dominate the 2017 all-state and first-team all-conference list.

League champ Frenchtown has four selections followed by Columbia Falls with three and Polson two.

Named from Columbia Falls were KJ Schweikert, Peyton Kehr and Sydney Hovde.

Polson’s selections were Kaelyn Smith and Laurel Bitterman.

Polson’s Haley Fyant was a first team all-conference pick.

Named second-team all-conference were Polson’s Hannah Fryberger, Ashley Benson and Camas Renault along with Columbia Falls’ Trista Cowan, Hannah Freeman and Taylar Putnam and Whitefish’s Baileigh Krause.
