Burgstahler earns master’s degree
Molly Burgstahler of Sandpoint graduated from The College of St. Scholastica with a master of science in occupational therapy.
The college held its fall 2016 commencement ceremony Dec. 17 in the Reif Gymnasium on campus.
The College of St. Scholastica is nationally recognized for quality. The America’s Best Colleges rankings by U.S. News & World Report classify it as one of the Midwest’s top regional universities.
WSU announces fall president’s honor roll
PULLMAN — Washington State University has announced the president’s honor roll for the 2015 spring semester.
The president’s honor roll recognizes students who stand above the rest with excellent academic performance. To be eligible for the honor roll, undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of nine graded hours in a single term at WSU and earn a grade point average of 3.75 or earn a 3.50 cumulative GPA based on 15 cumulative hours of graded work.
Students who received the honor from Bonner and Boundary counties include:
Bonners Ferry — Kimberly Megan Kramer;
Priest River — Baylee J. Barnett;
Sagle — Mohsen William Brown and Alicia Sofia Hanford;
Sandpoint — Margaux Anne McBirney, Nick Alexandar Rapoport, and Heidi Love Skinner.
Gonzaga announces fall president’s list
A trio of Bonner County residents have earned placement on the Gonzaga University president’s list for fall semester 2016. Students must earn a 3.85 to 4.0 grade-point average to be listed.
Elizabeth Lewis, Nathan Schwartz, and Taryn Smith, all of Sandpoint, were among those earning the academic distinction.
Gonzaga University is a humanistic, private Catholic University providing a Jesuit education to more than 7,500 students. Situated along the Spokane River near downtown Spokane, Wash., Gonzaga is routinely recognized among the West’s best comprehensive regional universities.
Local students earn dean’s list honors
The following residents of [hometown] have earned placement on the Gonzaga University dean’s list for fall semester 2016. Students must earn a 3.5 to 3.84 grade-point average to be listed.
Sagle — Emmett Jones and Makenna Presnell
Sandpoint — Erik Bruhjell, Kayla Kassa, and Kelly Omodt
Gonzaga University is a humanistic, private Catholic University providing a Jesuit education to more than 7,500 students. Situated along the Spokane River near downtown Spokane, Wash., Gonzaga offers 75 fields of study, 25 master’s degrees, a doctorate in leadership studies, and a Juris Doctor degree through its School of Law.
Bourn achieves academic honors
WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Ian Bourn has achieved academic distinction for fall 2016 at Whitman College in Walla Walla.
Academic distinction is awarded after the completion of each semester. This recognition is given to all students who have completed a minimum of 12 credits, passed all credits attempted and have earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
Bourn is a graduate of Sandpoint High School.
Founded in 1882, Whitman College is a highly selective private, independent, co-educational, non-sectarian residential liberal arts and sciences undergraduate college located in Walla Walla, Washington. The college is home to approximately 1,500 undergraduate students exploring 45 departmental majors that lead to a bachelor of arts degree.
Burgstahler named to SJU dean’s list
COLLEGEVILLE — Matthew Burgstahler, son of Alison and Scott Burgstahler of Sandpoint, has earned the distinction of being named to the dean’s list for the 2016 fall semester at Saint John’s University.
Burgstahler is a junior individualized major at SJU.
To be included on the dean’s list, students must have a semester grade-point average of at least 3.80 and have completed 12 credits for which honor points (A, B, C, etc.) are awarded. Students included on the dean’s list cannot have any “unsatisfactory” or “incomplete” grades for that semester.
EWU announces winter dean’s list
Eastern Washington University has announce its dean’s list for the winter 2017 quarter, which ended March 24
Students who earned a spot on the list for Bonner and Boundary counties include: Patricia McNally of Bonners Ferry; Andrew Huddleston of Priest River; Cory Johnson of Priest River; and Jeremy Gerhardt of Spirit Lake.
SFCC honor roll includes locals
SPOKANE — The winter 2017 honor roll list at Spokane Falls Community College includes more than 1,900 students, including several students from the area. To receive honor roll status, students must earn a 3.0 grade point average or higher.
Students earning a spot on the list are Alina Bashinskaya of Blanchard, Brandon Oram of Oldtown, and Carmen Orsi of Sandpoint.
