The railroad crossing at State Park Road in Whitefish will be closed Wednesday, June 7 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., while BNSF Railway crews make emergency repairs.

Because this closure will “land lock” a portion of the city, BNSF is planning for some preventative measures, according to a notice from Whitefish city manager Adam Hammatt.

Reader boards will be in place today to notify residents of the closure; Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will be notified; a vehicle will be staged on either side of the crossing for shuttling purposes; and equipment and materials will be on site to build an emergency access across the tracks, should one be required.

For more information, contact BNSF Roadmaster Daryl Braun at 406-863-0253.
