BONNERS FERRY — Valley View Elementary School’s fifth annual Third Grade Olympics took place on June 5. The students were bussed to the Fairgrounds where they competed in relay games to win the Ugly Reindeer Trophy.

Third grade teacher Mrs. Kuhlman was the event coordinator. The kids competed in the Clothes Relay, where they donned oversized boots, pants, and shirt over their clothes, raced around a cone and ran back. The onlooking teams cheered the runners with excitement.

There was also Ladder Ball, where the children tossed a string with rubber balls on each end at a ladder type stand.

In the Sack Race, they put a gunny sack over their legs and jumped down the field, around a cone, and back. Tic-Tac-Toe Bean Bags, Ping Pong Ball Relay, and the Soccer Relay were also games the kids participated in. Each team got to participate in two of the six events and the winning teams competed with each other to acquire the trophy.
