The Montana Department of Transportation seeks comments on its proposal to resurface about 5.7 miles of Highway 508 southwest of Yaak in Lincoln County. A news release states the project’s purpose “is to take a cost-effective action to prolong and preserve the existing pavement.”
The proposed project begins half a mile south of the Burnt Dutch Road intersection at milemarker 12.4 and extends north for 5.7 miles, ending 0.4 miles north of the Meadow Creek Road intersection at milemarker 18.1. Proposed work includes milling the existing surface, applying a new asphalt overlay and finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal) and fog seal. Pavement markings, guardrail end sections and signs will also be replaced.
“The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2019, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding,” the news release states. “No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.”
