Yard sales invaded Mineral County last weekend as St. Regis held a town yard sale on June 16 and 17. The West End Annual Yard Sale also took place at the DeBorgia Historic School House. This included their Cowboy Breakfast of biscuits and gravy, sausage and drinks.

“We had about 70 people show up,” said one of the event coordinators, Sharon Kortuem. She commented that they had been worried because members of the Westend ATV Association used to come to their breakfast before they started their annual poker ride. Now they have their own breakfast in St. Regis.

Despite the loss of that group, they still had a successful turnout. The Cowboy Breakfast chairman, Donna Richter said they almost ran out of food even though she had planned for 100 people. They had 25 biscuits left and had run out of eggs and sausage, “I’m thankful we had enough, we were really cutting it close this year.”

Funds raised from the yard sale and breakfast are used for upkeep of the historic school house. It’s one of the oldest buildings in DeBorgia and serves as a community center. There were about a dozen tables set up outside for the yard sale.

Overall, the day was a success with the sun peering out from behind a few clouds. The group saw several new faces and hope to see more at next year’s event.
