SANDPOINT — A Sagle woman with six prior drunken driving arrests was imprisoned Monday after pleading guilty in a seventh case.

First District Judge Barbara Buchanan adopted the terms of a plea agreement which recommended Burklie Ann McIntire be sentenced to a two- to four-year term with retained jurisdiction, court records show. When jurisdiction is retained, a defendant serves up to a year in prison before a determination is made to release the person on probation or order them to serve the underlying custodial sentence.

McIntire was given credit for 13 days she served in pretrial custody and fined $500. Her license to drive was suspended for one year after her release and she will be made to drive with an ignition interlock device on her vehicle for the duration of her probation if she’s not further imprisoned.

McIntire’s seventh driving-under-the-influence entanglement occurred Feb. 3 in Sandpoint. She denied consuming alcohol before getting behind the wheel, but was unsteady on her feet and failed field sobriety tests, a Sandpoint Police arrest report said. Her breath-alcohol content was measure at 0.37, nearly five times the legal limit to drive of 0.08, the report said.

McIntire’s guilty plea marked her fourth felony conviction for DUI, court records indicate. The Idaho State Supreme Court Data Repository lists seven prior DUI charges dating back to 1994. Five of the cases ended in guilty pleas, while one was amended to inattentive driving and another resulted in a withheld judgment, court records show.
