Master Naturalists offer open house

Fun for the whole family is in store at the local Idaho Master Naturalists chapter open house at the Waterlife Discovery Center on Saturday, June 24.

Between the hours of 1-4 p.m., visitors may avail themselves of the interpretive nature paths and trails, enjoy the aquarium-like fish viewing area, stroll the grounds to view the surrounding lake, scenery and bird life.

The group’s on-site headquarters building contains posters and informative materials covering a wide range of the groups’ activities, as well as an impressive library of nature-geared books, on most every facet of the environment: Weather; Geology; flora, trees and shrubs of the area; biographies of famous naturalists and books by some of them; histories and journals of explorers; illustrated tomes of land and sea creatures; birds; reptiles and amphibians; mammals large and small and much more – providing some insight on what makes a “naturalist.”

Located at the old fish hatchery, the Waterlife Discovery Center is located off Highway 95 at the south end of Long Bridge: turn west on Lakeshore Drive and go 1.5 miles. The complex is on the right and very visible from the road, with extensive parking facilities.
