The smoke that has blanketed the area today is from the Spartan wildfire near Wenatchee, Wash., said Shane O'Shea of the Idaho Department of Lands.

There are no current fires in the Idaho Panhandle, he said.

Recent hot temperatures elevated the fire danger in this area to moderate today.
