June 29, 1967 – MARRIED 50 YEARS

Mr. and Mrs. Alva P. Reeves Sr. were honored guests at a family dinner party Friday at the Pend d’Oreille Lodge for their 50th wedding anniversary.

Alva Pinkney Reeves and Miss Mary Elsie Lambert were united in marriage at a family wedding on June 30, 1917 at the home of her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Lambert of Sandpoint. The late W.L. Livingston, then of the First Presbyterian Church here, officiated.

Mr. Reeves accepted a position with the Bonner county National Bank in 1918 and he and his wife have resided here continuously since then.

LONG LOAD PASSES THRU SANDPOINT

It took an hour Thursday to get a truck and trailer carrying a 170-foot crane boom through Sandpoint. Apparently the longest load ever to traverse the city streets, it was en route to the Libby dam. It entered Sandpoint on U.S. 95, went west on Superior to Third, north to Church, west to Fifth, north on Fifth and U.S. 95 to the junction and then to the entrance of the Elks Golf Course, crossed the tracks and then proceeded north on U.S. 95 again. The tricky points were the intersections of Third and Church, Fifth and Church and the Elks entrance.

STEAM TRACTOR ENTERED

Harold Miller, 604 Jefferson, has entered his 1906 Case steam tractor in the July 4 parade.

Pend d’Oreille Review

June 29, 1917 – WILL WED TOMORROW

At high noon tomorrow Miss Mary Lambert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Lambert, will be united in marriage to Alva Reeves of Spokane. The ceremony will take place at the home of the bride’s parents, 113 south Second street, in the presence of immediate relatives and friends. The couple will make Spokane their home.

ARRAIGNED UNDER FEDERAL LAW

County Attorney McCall has received a telegram from the U.S. district Attorney at Boise advising him to have William G. Foutz arraigned under a new federal act passed this month which makes acts or words defamatory to the American flag a federal offense. Foutz, a cook at Humbird camp No. 2, was arrested a week ago.

GOLD LEAF BURGLAR VISITS CITY

The dental offices of Dr. J.D. Guy and Dr. J.B. Page were burglarized Tuesday night and gold leaf to the value of $90 stolen; Dr. Guy’s loss being $40 and Dr. Page’s $50. No clues have been obtained as to who the perpetrators were, but it is known that such work is generally done by professionals who have sufficient knowledge of the dental business to know where to place their hands at once upon the gold, and who travel rapidly through the country, generally taking nothing else.
