OTHELLO — A 17-year-old boy was taken into custody in Othello on Monday in connection with a weekend shooting that left another 17-year-old boy injured.
About 11 p.m. Saturday night the Othello Police Department received a report of a shooting near the intersection of South 13th Avenue and East Oak Street. Police learned a 17-year-old boy had sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder, according to the OPD.
After investigating the incident the OPD determined the shooter, identified as Adrian Anguiano, 17, of Othello, had fired one shot from a pistol at the victim and fled the scene.
The OPD, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Task Force, located Anguiano on Monday. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit in the 600 block of South Broadway Avenue and booked into the Adams County Jail for first-degree assault and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
“The Othello Police Department would like to thank all assisting agencies for their help in the timely apprehension of this armed and dangerous suspect,” stated the OPD.
