SPEECH: OK; heckling, not OK

Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 years, 9 months AGO
| March 1, 2017 12:00 AM

Regarding the Coeur d’Alene Press article Feb. 22 on the front page of the Local section, “Wanted: Crapo, Risch,” to you folks who have had over one hour Tuesday meetings in the Coeur d’Alene offices of Sen. Crapo and Sen. Risch demanding a public town hall (i.e. opportunity to heckle, scream and get publicity) meeting. My answer is Yes, you have the right of free speech in our country.

But, our senators are now very busy trying to correct the many errors that were made over the past eight years by the previous administration that just lost the election.

The election is over.

Please consider this prayer made by our first and greatest president George Washington on June 8, 1783, in Newburg, N.Y.:

“I now make it my earnest prayer, that God would have the United States in his holy protection that he would incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another, for their fellow citizens of the United States at large and particularly for their brethren who have served in the fields [of battle].”

Certainly our senators and congressmen of Idaho have served honorably for many years for all of us.
