A Lake County man accused of sexually assaulting two young boys was sentenced last week to spend three years in the Department of Corrections.
Cavey Matt, who was 17 at the time of the offenses, was convicted on two counts of felony sexual assault. Lake County District Court Judge James A. Manley imposed a 10-year sentence with seven years suspended on each count, and set the terms to run concurrent with one other. Matt was credited for 280 days served.
According to court documents, on March 7, 2016, two boys, aged 6 and 4, told interviewers at First Step in Missoula that Matt molested them. The 6-year-old reported that the incident occurred while Matt was living at the child’s house for a brief period of time. The 4-year-old said he was touched inappropriately while Matt was baby-sitting him. Investigators determined that both incidents occurred around the same period of time.
Matt has been designated as a Tier 1 sex offender.
