COEUR d’ALENE — Like many in North Idaho, Josh and Toni Robertson are done with winter.

To combat the doldrums of winter’s last gasps, the Spirit Lake couple headed to the Kootenai County Fairgrounds on Sunday. While browsing vendor booths at the 45th annual CW Wraps and Marketing Home and Garden Show, the Robertsons told The Press they were daydreaming about sunny days spent in their soon-to-be improved backyard.

“It’s pretty cool here,” Josh said.

“There were a couple things here where I thought ‘Really? That’s interesting,’” Toni added.

The show, presented by the North Idaho Building Contractors Association, marks the end of winter by encouraging attendees to start their spring with beautifully landscaped gardens and home improvement projects. According to event organizers, the show aims to bring homeowners together with the area’s top remodeling and building experts.

A large crowd of residents navigating through vendor booths Sunday to discuss how to turn their home improvement dreams into reality was a testament to that aim being accomplished throughout the three-day event.

As the Robertsons continued to make their way through the show, Josh said he would like to see the event grow and bring in even more companies with products and services to improve their home.

Norm Anderson and Joan Gregory of Coeur d’Alene, came to the show Sunday to find inspiration for improving their cabin in Montana. At the Whiteman Lumber Company booth, the couple found treated, multi-purpose wood planks that Anderson said were perfect for building a bar at the cabin.

“We like to look at everything,” Anderson said.

“I like this type of thing a lot,” Gregory added before pointing toward a small wooden bridge. “We also need a walkway to go over the river on our property.”

For Terri Capozzo, the Home and Garden Show is an annual opportunity to get ideas for her Rathdrum home. Roofing and painting materials were at the top of Capozzo’s browsing list, but she added that she loves improving every aspect of her home because it makes her feel more safe and secure.

“This is a house I am planning on living in forever. It’s an investment that’s worth it,” Capozzo added. “Overall (the show) was great, I got a lot of good ideas. Now I’m going to go home and figure out where to start.”
