NW Sacred Music Chorale presents Handel's 'Messiah'
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 7 years, 10 months AGO
The Northwest Sacred Music Chorale will present Parts II and III of Georg Friedrich Handel’s “Messiah” during Lent this Easter season. The work will be performed with full orchestra, 60-voice chorus and guest soloists Amy Porter, soprano; Amanda Rood, mezzo soprano; Charles Sorensson, tenor and Joshua Vander Plaats, bass.
“‘Messiah’ is not only one of the greatest works in the history of western music; it is also a “spiritual” masterpiece capturing the entire drama of redemption as depicted in the Old and New Testaments. It is a privilege to present this great work as Handel intended, just before Holy Week,” said Stan McDaniel, the music chorale’s artistic director.
Performances are March 31 at 7 p.m. and April 1 at 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St., Coeur d’Alene, and April 8 at Central Lutheran Church, 512 S. Bernard St., Spokane.
