IDOC recommends prison in Sandpoint arson case

SANDPOINT — A Sandpoint woman could be headed back to prison for multiple probation violation following an arson conviction.
Disaree Huntley is accused of failing to remain at a fixed address, using controlled substances and failing to submit to drug testing following her release onto probation, Idaho Department of Correction’s records show.
Huntley, 28, was arrested on a bench warrant and made an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court on Tuesday, court records show. A hearing to determine if she admits or denies the alleged probation violations is pending.
Huntley was charged with first-degree arson after setting clothes and carpeting on fire in her Pine Street apartment in April 2016. She ultimately pleaded guilty to third-degree arson in an pretrial settlement agreement and was placed on probation, which has gone poorly, according to court documents. In addition to allegedly evading supervision, Huntley admitted using methamphetamine, marijuana and the synthetic drug spice while on community release.
An IDOC Probation & Parole officer reported to the court that Huntley had repeatedly violated the terms of her probation in less than a month and recommended she be made to serve a one- to two-year prison term.
“She clearly does not appreciate the privilege of probation, nor does it appear that the defendant is amenable to supervision at the community level,” Probation & Parole Officer Tara Lowery said in court documents.
IDOC is recommending against retained jurisdiction, also known as a rider, because Huntley has already previously done four of them, court records indicate. Huntley suffers from drug dependence and mental health issues, according to court documents.
