Janell Rae Marts Jones, 73
Janell Rae Marts Jones, 73, of Fernwood, Idaho, passed away at Benewah Community Hospital in St. Maries, Idaho, on March 20, 2017. She was born to William and Hazel Marts on Sept. 17, 1943, in Boise, Idaho. When Janell was a child the family relocated to Yakima, Wash., where she grew up and attended school. She moved to Randolph, Utah, to work for her aunt and uncle in their restaurant.
Janell met John LeRoy “Roy” Jackson and they married in February 1962 and together they had four sons and a daughter. To help support the family, Janell continued to work in her aunt’s restaurant, the local service station, and as a flagger in road construction. After her divorce from Roy, Janell moved to Renton, Wash., and then to Athol, Idaho. There she met and married Phillip Reese and was later widowed in 2009. She worked for Schooneys Restaurant in Athol, Silverwood Theme Park and Unitech Composites in Hayden, Idaho.
Janell met Don Jones while working at Unitech and they were married on Aug. 10, 2012, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Janell worked for 20 years at Unitech before retiring. When the couple retired, they moved to Fernwood, Idaho. Janell enjoyed gardening, hunting, being outdoors, going to yard sales and going for drives to look at wildlife. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Janell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Janell is survived by her husband, Don Jones; and her children, Willie Jackson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mike (Tami) Jackson of Lyman, Wyo., Tony Jackson of Salt Lake City, Dustin (Amanda) Jackson of Randolph, Utah, Marlo (John) Bischoff of Rathdrum, Idaho, Earl Jones of Smelterville, Idaho, Dawn (John) Baldwin of Potlatch, Idaho, and Mary Hawk of Smelterville, Idaho; her brothers, Robert (Carol) Marts of Renton, Wash., Thomas (Sandy) Marts of Yakima and John Marts of Yakima; and her sister, Judy (Gerald) Stewart of Longview, Wash. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, James Marts, Bill Marts and Joe Marts.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Timberlake Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15151 N. Meyer Road, Rathdrum. There will be a viewing from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at the church, and from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Rathdrum.
