Mauricia 'Wicha' Montemayor

Mauricia “Wicha” Montemayor, 74, of Othello, Wash., passed away March 16, 2017 at Kadlec Hospital. She was born in El Llano, Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on March 19, 1942 to parents, Elojio and Petra Valdez, with four sisters and four brothers. Mauricia was married to Jose L. Montemayor in 1961. Together they raised seven children, one girl and six boys.

“Wicha” drove truck for Roylance Farms. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Her passions were knitting, crocheting, arts and crafts. She was a sociable soul who enjoyed talking and making friends.

She was survived by her brother Adan (Beatrice) Valdez, McFarland, Calif.; her children Anna Martinez, Othello, Wash., Victor (Sandra) Montemayor, Corpus Christi, Texas, Homero (Velma) Montemayor, Othello, Wash., Jose Montemayor, Corpus Christi, Texas, Mario (Juana) Montemayor, Othello, Wash. and Jerry Valdez, Othello, Wash. She had 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Mauricia was preceded in death by her parents Elojio and Petra Valdez, husband Jose L. Montemayor, son Rick Montemayor and siblings Esmerala Garza, Enedelia Garcia, Eliseo Valdez, Eduardo Valdez and Eleodoro Valdez.
