NAMPA, Idaho — The Bonners Ferry Badgerettes Dance Team danced their hearts out in the Idaho High School State Dance and Cheer Competition on March 17.
This annual event was held at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho.
The team is comprised of 14 girls from freshman to seniors, their coach Lisa Dirks and assistant Shaleyna Higgins.
They competed in the 3A Division in four categories: Dance, Hip Hop, Kick, and Prop, with some girls performing more than one dance.
The Jazz Dance routine was performed to ‘Hit The Road Jack,’ while the Hip Hop routine was done to a medley remix of various Hip Hop songs. The girls performed the Kick routine to ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go Go’ and the Prop dance, using a rope for their prop, was the Mike Perry song, ‘Inside The Lines.’
“They worked really hard and danced their hearts out,” Dirks says, “I’m very proud of how they represented our school. I’d like to thank the girls and their parents for all of their support.”
Dirks said the next Badgerette dance Team tryouts will be sometime around the second week of May.
The Bonners Ferry Badger Cheerleader also competed in Saturday’s state competition in Nampa.
Coach Sarah Jenkins said she was very pleased with the team’s performance.
“The girls took 9th place and had a perfect performance,” Jenkins said. “They were amazing!”
