n World Cup — Mikaela Shiffrin was the headliner this final week of World Cup competition at Aspen, Colorado. She took Silver in Slalom, locking down both the Overall Title and the Slalom Globe. She also finished second on the season in Giant Slalom. Pretty impressive stuff.
n U16 Championships — Two local athletes were selected by be on the PNSA Championship Team and represent at Big Sky, Montana last week against more than 200 of the top athletes West of the Rockies. It was a challenging week for Addison McNamara and Morgan Wohlaib. Morgan didn’t finish in Super G and Giant Slalom, but did post a strong 33rd in Slalom. Although Addison completed all events, Slalom was also his best finish, at 40th. These athletes competed in a season long series to earn their spots at the Championships.
n 24 Hours for Hank — The ninth annual 24 hour long fundraiser for cystinosis research will be held at Schweitzer this Saturday. Sign-up to participate or go online and donate to this very important event. Information can be found at www.24hoursforhank.com.

Not many sports present the number of variables to the athletes as ski racing (Alpine or Nordic). Our competitors braved it all and persevered.

Shiffrin nabs No. 65 and 66 — Mikaela Shiffrin continued her march to the all-time World Cup win record with a big weekend in Bansko, Bulgaria. She is rapidly becoming the greatest all event skier of all time.

World Cup — Tommy Ford had a busy weekend in Chamonix, France. He placed 16th in the parallel slalom and fourth in the parallel giant slalom. That said, he narrowly missed injury in the giant slalom when he lost a ski and skidded across his opponent’s path.
