COEUR d’ALENE — Something British, musical and murderous is afoot at Lake City High School.

The school’s performing arts program is preparing to present the musical murder mystery spoof “Something’s Afoot” opening Thursday, April 13 at 7 p.m. at the Lake City High School Auditorium, 6101 Ramsey Road.

The show will run through April 22 with performances at 7 p.m. Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15, and Thursday, April 20, Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22.

The production is directed by Sandra Seaton with choreography by Jennifer Newton, music direction by Terry Johnson and produced by special arrangement with Samuel French.

Featured in the cast in alphabetical order are Aubrey Bernard, Noah Garrett, Sebastian Goetz, Anika Hille, Ashley Holmes, Zuriah Irwin, Kyto Katori, Andrew Schaeffer and Evan Schwaab. The design and management team includes: Emma Bolkovatz, Keira O’ Reilly, Holden Farrey, Noah Garrett, Connor Brooks, Michel Terry, Aubrey Bernard, Samantha Moore, Malachi Tran and Melia Hannigan-Luther.

“Something’s Afoot” spoofs detective stories, most particularly Agatha Christie’s, “And Then There Were None,” also known as “Ten Little Indians.” The book, music and lyrics were written by James McDonald, David Vos and Robert Gerlach, with additional music by Ed Linderman.

The play involves a group of standard British mystery characters (the Cockney servants, the brash retired military man, the imperious dowager, the snoopy spinster, the ne’er-do-well nephew, the ingénue couple) who are invited to the lake estate of Lord Dudley Rancour. When the wealthy lord is found dead, it’s a comical race against the clock and some outrageous booby traps to find out whodunit.

Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 for students and seniors, and $7 with a LCHS ASB card.

To purchase tickets, visit the Lake City High School front desk during office hours, Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For information or for discount group ticket sales of 10 or more, please contact sseaton@cdaschools.org. This musical is appropriate for all ages, but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult in the theater.
