The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for “Cabaret: The Musical,” the final production of the 2016-2017 season.
Auditions will be held on April 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. in the Green Room at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Please enter at the north side of the building and arrive early to fill out an audition application and review the script.
“Cabaret: The Musical” is set in the seedy Kit Kat Klub in Berlin, Germany, in 1931. The Klub is a place to pretend the party will go on forever, even as the world falls apart on the outside with Hitler’s rise. “Cabaret” follows the interlocking stories of Sally Bowles, a beguiling, self-destructive cabaret singer, Cliff Bradshaw, a young American journalist, and the citizens of Berlin as they are caught up in the swirling maelstrom of a changing society. Led by the enigmatic and dazzling Emcee, Cabaret is an intoxicating theatrical experience, featuring well-known classics of the musical stage such as “Money,” “Tomorrow Belongs To Me,” “Willkommen,” “Maybe This Time,” and of course “Cabaret.” Filled with powerful music and dance, the Associated Press exclaims that “Cabaret is as thrilling as ever, a marvel of staging that hasn’t lost its punch.”
The cast of “Cabaret” will be composed of 16 to 25 men and women, ages 18 and older. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be provided.
Rebecca Schaffer is the director for this show. The production staff will also feature Don Caverly as the music director and Amy Beth Chisholm as the vocal director. Rehearsals begin on April 10 and run for eight weeks. There are eight performances over two weekends on June 1-4 and 8-11.
