The Kellogg Wildcat golf team picked up right where they left on Wednesday as both the girls and boys teams beat the Bonners Ferry Badgers at Pinehurst Golf Course.

The boys team set a school record shooting a combined score of 147 and beat the Badgers by 60 strokes.

Tyler Gibbons was the boys top performer as he shot a 35 (1-under par) for the course.

He was followed by both Cade Finlay and Chase Jerome who shot 37’s.

Coach Simon Miller was very pleased with how his team looked in the cold and wet conditions.

“This is not only the best 9-hole score I have seen a Kellogg team shoot, but it was done in very challenging conditions,” Miller said.

The girls looked to kick off their state championship defense with a bang and they were able to flex their Intermountain League muscles a little bit as they finished with a score of 214 for the course.

Bonners Ferry was unable to field a full team, but the three golfers they did have shot a 131, but none of them shot better than any of the five Wildcat golfers.

Kat Rauenhorst paced the competition shooting a solid 51 for the day, followed by Kylie Robinson’s score of 52.

Miller is liking the progression and effort he is seeing from the girls team.

“I am proud of the way the girls have improved this week. They are working hard, and coming together as we head into spring break,” Miller said.

Kellogg will be golfing again on Monday, April 10 at the Pinehurst Golf Course at 10 a.m.
