The Inventors Association of Idaho are taking a field trip to MakerPoint Studios for their monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

SANDPOINT — The Inventors Association of Idaho is moving out of its comfort zone this month and taking a field trip.

During IAI's regular monthly meeting Wednesday, the group is meeting at MakerPoint Studio for a tour and free pizza.

MakerPoint is a community center with a vast selection of tools that the members can use for their own projects.

MakerPoint combines manufacturing equipment, community and education for the purposes of enabling community members to design, protoype and create remarkable maufactured works.

The group will also take a look back at a recent meeting for "Ugly Baby" inventions, which is the term for inventions only a mother could love.

Members will bring their inventions to decide if they are "Ugly Babies" by debating the pros and cons of their ideas.

Afterward, IAI will hold its regular mixer at MakerPoint as well, so everyone can mingle and learn from the experts.

The Inventors Association of Idaho will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday at MakerPoint Studio, 1424 N. Boyer, Sandpoint.

The event is free and open to the public.
