The Mission-Arlee-Charlo softball team has developed a reputation around the valley for a team that can manufacture runs in bunches.

According to Plains-Hot Springs assistant coach David Thompson, M-A-C is capable of scoring runs in excess. Their ability to hit has forced teams to execute well on defense and produce on offense.

The margin for error is “small.”

“M-A-C has traditionally swung the bats well over the years,” Thompson told the Clark Fork Valley Press. “If they come up and swing, they can get on a roll and put some runs up on the board. You have to counteract that with good pitching and defense, and it’s anyone’s game.”

In this weekend’s Frenchtown Softball Invitational, the Lady Bulldogs continued this trend of run production as they finished 2-0-1 on the tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs continue to showcase that they are one of the teams to contend with in Class B-C softball as they improved their record to 10-2-1.

Dillon 5, M-A-C 5, (tie)

Pitcher Ran’Dee Charlo struck out 13 Lady Beavers to help the Lady Bulldogs stay even with Dillon.

Despite Charlo’s pitching efforts and her run support, the Beavers were able to storm back in the bottom of the 6th by producing five runs.

M-A-C outhit Dillon 8-7.

Lady Bulldogs hitter Haley Crawford was 2-for-4, Kenzie Couture 2-for-4, and Asia-Rain Umphrey hit 1-for-3 in the tie ballgame.

M-A-C 14, Stevensville 2

The Lady Bulldogs again continued to hammer their opponent with a 14-2 victory over Stevensville Saturday in Frenchtown.

M-A-C nearly doubled the amount of hits that Stevensville had outhitting them 13 to 7.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Crawford and Umphrey hit 3-for-4, Tomi Brazill was 2-for-3, Couture 2-for-4, Charlo hit 2-for-4, and Vanessa Kent batted 2-for-2.
