NIC splits with Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Megan Carver homered in each game for North Idaho College, but the Cardinals had to settle for a split of Friday’s Northwest Athletic Conference East Region softball doubleheader with Walla Walla Community College at Warrior Field.
Carver led off the eighth inning of the second game with a home run to put NIC (25-11, 17-8 NWAC) up 8-7. But Walla Walla (22-12, 17-9) scored twice in the bottom of the inning for the split.
Carver hit a two-run homer in the third inning of the first game to give the Cardinals the lead.
Kayla Curtan hit a two-run homer in a five-run fifth in the second game for NIC. Curtan drove in five runs on the day for the Cardinals.
NIC plays a doubleheader today at Columbia Basin (10-28, 6-21) in Pasco, Wash., beginning at noon.
