Pilot injured in crash at Cd'A Airport

A 61-year-old Coeur d’Alene man was injured this afternoon when the small, single-engine aircraft he was piloting crashed at Coeur d’Alene Airport in Hayden.
Frank G. Gordon sustained minor injuries, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
Gordon, the only occupant of the aircraft, was likely taking off from the airport when the crash occurred shortly before 1:40, per deputies who interviewed the man.
He was conscious and alert and transported to Kootenai Health for for medical treatment.
Witnesses advised the plane had taken off but then, for unknown reasons, abruptly crashed. The airplane came to rest along a taxiway, within the airport’s fenced property, near
Ramsey Road and Wyoming Avenue.
The aircraft had extensive damage to the engine area and the right wing.
The local office of the National Transportation Safety Board and the local office of the Federal Aviation Administration have both been notified of this incident. The NTSB will be
the lead agency investigating this incident.
