MOSES LAKE — A wandering rodent accidentally caused a wrong connection and caused about 1,900 customers in Moses Lake to lose electrical service for about 90 minutes Friday morning.

“It was a squirrel that caused the fault,” said Chuck Allen, public information specialist for the Grant County PUD. The squirrel crossed the connections at the Pelican Point substation, Allen said, which interrupted power in the area around the substation, including Moses Lake High School.

Service was interrupted about 8:25 a.m. and was restored about 10 a.m.
