Rodney (Rod) Andrew Maisel, 82 a longtime resident of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017, in Spokane, Wash.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the Sandpoint Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Chad Wilks officiating.
Rod was born Feb. 28, 1935, in Detroit Lakes, Minn., the son of Herman and Hazel Maisel. He was raised in Langdon, N.D., and received his schooling there. He later attended Westmar College, Moody Bible Institute, and graduated from Metropolitan State College with a degree in accounting.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and was honorably discharged.
While in Denver he met Margaret A. Maisel and they were married Aug. 11, 1967, in Denver. Rod worked for numerous radio stations in Colorado, the CBS television station in Denver, had numerous accounting and bookkeeping jobs, sold insurance for Farmers Insur-ance in Sand-point and prepared tax returns for more than 20 years.
He was a member of the Gideons International, where he served in many capacities. He enjoyed trains, photography and telling stories.
He is survived by two children, Kathleen (Chuck) Ashton of Sandpoint and Andrew Maisel of Vancouver, Wash.; and a sister, Rita Maisel of Langdon, N.D. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margaret.
