Badger Track looking toward Districts

BONNERS FERRY — With just over a week left until the District Tournament, held at Timberlake High School, the Bonners Ferry High School track team is celebrating successes along the way. April 28, the Lady Badgers took sixth at the Timberlake Invitational with a score of 37. Sandpoint, Lakeland, Freeman, Colville, and Timberlake placed 1-5; and Coeur d’Alene Charter, Kellogg, Deer Park, St. Maries, Clark Fork, Kootenai, Wallace, and Priest River placed 7-14. In boys’ competition, Bonners Ferry placed 16th, with one scorer, freshman Austin Donn.
Donn ran a 10:59 in the 3200M race, placing eighth. The girls’ sprint medley relay of Emmi Mullershon, Nicole Donn, Natasha Webster, and Jordan Young placed third. The girls’ 4X400M relay was fifth. Young ran a tough 800M race to finish second with a time of 2:29. She was sixth in the mile with 5:47, followed by Abigail Gorton, eighth, at 5:48. Gorton was fifth in the 3200M race with 12:25. Freshman Victoria Rae was third in the 4Kg shot with 33-1.5 and fourth in the 1Kg discus with 102-6.
Senior Isaac Lavala was fourth and third in pole vault at the Mooberry Relays and Strandberg Invitational, respectively, vaulting 13-06.00.
Head Coach Travis Hinthorn said, “We are looking forward to the final weeks of the season. We are hoping for some solid performances at Districts, both in terms of individual advancement to the State Championships and importantly, in terms of team placement.”

BCMS Cross Country competes at districts
The Boundary County Middle School Lady Badgers closed out the season with an individual district champion and a team title last Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Highland Golf Course in Post Falls. They competed against athletes from Timberlake, Genesis Prep, Priest River, and Kellogg, and exhibited the sort of race-day competitiveness that they have shown since the season opener at BCMS in September.

BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County Middle School hosted Kellogg, Priest River, and Timberlake for the Bonners Ferry Cross Country Small Schools Invitational last Thursday, Sept. 19. The middle school athletes raced on the newly developed course which involved a start and finish on the Bonners Ferry High School track and 1.5 mile loop through the fields and woods behind BFHS. The course provided athletes with a range of hills, open space, and turns.
BFHS seniors explore post-secondary options at NIC
COEUR d’ALENE — While underclassmen took the Practice Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) and Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) at Bonners Ferry High School last Wednesday, Oct. 16, 71 seniors visited North Idaho College to learn about post-secondary education and training options.
