Hammond to talk at NAMI meeting

The NAMI Far North (National Alliance on Mental Illness) regular monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 17. The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the old Bonner General Health classroom, 520 N. Third Ave., Sandpoint.

Brenda Hammond, LCSW, a mental health clinician who has worked in the Sandpoint community for 10 years is the featured speaker. She is works for Early Head Start as a mental health specialist.

Hammond has been active in many community organizations, including NAMI, and is on the board of the Human Rights Task Force. In addition, she started and continues to help facilitate a support group for individuals who hear voices and have other unusual experiences.

Hammond will speak on “Resilience and the Biology of Stress and Mindfulness.”

Following the presentation there will be a support session for those with mental illness and another support session for family and friends. Each support session will be facilitated. All are welcome to this free informational meeting.
