We support Gary Suppiger for LPOSD School Board Trustee Zone 2. As Gary’s neighbors, we have known him and his family for 23 years. He’s lived in Cocolalla for 25 years, is a small business owner, and has had three children go through the LPOSD schools. Gary has always been involved in the education of his kids, continuing to volunteer at Sagle Elementary teaching math two mornings a week, although his children have not attended for years. Gary understands the value of education for all kids. He is analytical, asks thoughtful questions, and will make decisions that will continue to improve the already great school system that we have here in LPOSD. He will hold the board, administration, teachers, and students to high standards. Most importantly, he will make decisions that are best for the students.

Gary is an advocate of strong professional technical programs (vo-tech for those of us older folks) and will work to ensure that already robust professional technical programs at SHS, Clark Fork, and LPOHS continue to grow into areas that will prepare our students for future careers that may or may not include attending college. However, unlike his opponent, Gary realizes that these programs cannot expand without resources or at the expense of our rural schools and strong college prep programs.

I served on the LPOSD school board for 11 years (10 years as chairman). I know that Gary Suppiger is the right person for this position.
