The Lincoln County Commissioners on Wednesday unanimously approved a task order to move forward on planning the restoration of Callahan Creek.

Task Order No. 3 authorizes the “Callahan Creek Restoration and Mitigation Planning and Implementation Project,” to be carried out by HDR Engineering.

According to the task order, “the project area extends from the confluence of Callahan Creek with the Kootenai River up Callahan Creek approximately one mile.”

A project document states deliverables to include an ordinary high water mark map and an outline of a restoration plan, the latter due within 30 days of the task order’s signing.

The task order will include a summary of impacts to Callahan Creek and its adjacent wetlands and a plan and schedule for restoration and mitigation activities completed and not yet accomplished. It will not include preparation of a final restoration plan.

HDR Engineering’s fee to complete the task order is $20,350.
