SOFTBALL: NIC sweeps Yakima Valley

COEUR d’ALENE — Kayla Moore pitched a six-hit shutout in the opener, and the North Idaho Cardinals went on to sweep Wenatchee Valley 8-0 and 12-4 in Northwest Athletic Conference East Region softball play Saturday at Memorial Field.
Kayla Curtan went 3 for 3 and scored two runs in the opener for NIC (29-13, 20-10 NWAC). Mckenzie Schaller was 2 for 3 with two runs, and Nikki Miller was 2 for 3 with three RBIs.
Miller and Kennedy Anderson homered in the second game for NIC.
Yakima Valley dipped to 11-27, 7-25.
NIC wraps up the regular season today with a noon doubleheader vs. Wenatchee Valley at Memorial Field.
