The ninth annual Vernon Baker Memorial Day free lunch for veterans will take place on Monday, May 29, thanks to the dedication and generosity of all three Capone’s restaurants, Michael D’s Eatery and Taco Time in Coeur d’Alene.

All active duty and prior military service members, regardless of protected veteran status, are eligible to participate. Proof of military service is required.

Tax-deductible donations, which will be given to the participating restaurants to help defray the cost, are being sought. Checks can be made out to VFW Post 889, with “Veterans Lunch” in the memo and mailed to organizers at Memorial Day Lunch, c/o Eric Soles, P.O. Box 471, Bayview, ID, 83803.

RSVPs will not be required, but times will vary.

Capone’s locations will offer the lunches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls and Hayden. Michael D’s Eatery hours will be 8 a.m. to noon and Taco Time on Fourth Street will offer one free menu item during business hours.
