An alleged pipe bomb found in front of the Dam Town Tavern in Hungry Horse on Monday afternoon has been confirmed as a fake.

According to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, a bomb squad in Missoula disassembled the object, which was made to look like a bomb, to find it empty.

The Sheriff’s Office called in the bomb squad Monday at 6 p.m. after receiving a report of the bomb threat.

Groundskeepers allegedly discovered the object lying in the grass in front of the tavern while making their afternoon rounds.

A robot was sent in to retrieve and remove the alleged bomb from the scene where it was placed in a safe container.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.

No suspects have been arrested or charged.
