Duffey excels for Chiefs at Frenchtown meet

FRENCHTOWN — Ronan High School long distance runner Jackson Duffey accelerated his times and elevated his performance in the Class-B District races Friday and Saturday afternoon at Frenchtown High School.

Duffey placed first in four events and had one PR in the 800 meters. Duffey took first in the 800 meter, the 1600 meter, and the 4X400 relay and further elevated his status a top-ranked contender at the Class-B Divisional meet on May 19 at Big Sky High School in Missoula.

McGuyer excels at Districts

Duffey’s teammate Collin McGuyer remained stellar and in spite of his elevated level of competition, he responded in his six events he competed in.

McGuyer finished first in pole vault, and PRed in the event, clearing 12 feet. McGuyer took second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.07 seconds. McGuyer finished third in the 200-meter dash recording a time of 23.48, fourth in the 4X100 relay with teammates Steven Flesch, Nicola Righetto, and Nathan Dennis finished with a time of 46.61 seconds, and placed fifth in the 100-meters with a time of 11.57 seconds. The other relay team McGuyer was a part of also finished with a time of 3 minutes, 46.02 seconds. The team also included Flesch, Dennis, and Duffey.

Roullier PRs in hurdles

Brennan Roullier PRed in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.16 seconds. Roullier also recorded a PR in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.48 seconds.

4X400 relay places first

The Chiefs’ 4X400 relay team captured first at the Class-B District meet at Frenchtown High School. The team consisting of Steven Flesch, James Normandeau, Nathan Dennis and Jackson Duffey recorded a time of 3 minutes, 41.51 seconds.

Van Lent. finishes 6th in high jump

Ronan’s Ezra Van Lent tied for sixth in the high jump clearing a height of 5 feet.

Flesch finishes second in triple jump

Ronan’s Steven Flesch finished second in the triple jump. Flesch’s levitating leap cleared a distance of 40 feet, 7 inches.

Lady Bulldogs’ Brander excels in Districts

All season, Mission High School’s track standout Afton Brander has found herself at the top of several lists of events and during the district track meet, it was no different.

Brander finished second in high jump and long jump at the Class-B Districts at Frenchtown High School.

Brander recorded her high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches and PRed with her long jump at 16 feet, 1 inches.

At Districts, Brander finished third at the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51 seconds. She also placed third in the triple jump where Brander PRed with a leap of 34 feet, 2.5 inches, and was third in the 4X400 relay with a team including Tristen Adams, Hunter Eichert and River Gonzalez.

Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs excel at Districts

Mission High School trackster Karolyna Buck recorded times in the 400-meters, 800-meters, 1600, and the high jump. Buck finished fourth in the 400-meter with a time of 1 minutes, 7.67 seconds, the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 38.45 seconds, third in the 1600 with a time of 6 minutes, 4.34 seconds and third in the high jump leaping a distance of 4 feet, 10 inches.

Hunter Eicherts’ sixth place in discus was also his personal record. Eichert PRed in the javelin with a throw of 70 feet, 1 inches.

Bulldogs’ Michael Durglo placed third and PRed in javelin with a throw of 140 feet, 10 inches. He finished fourth in shot put with a throw of 43 feet and fourth in discus with a 118 feet, 7 inches.
