Sixty-five percent of 6,835 Lincoln County voters cast their ballot for Greg Gianforte in Thursday’s special election.
Gianforte defeated Democrat Rob Quist to replace Ryan Zinke, who is now President Donald Trump’s interior secretary.
Gianforte was elected despite being charged with misdemeanor assault on Wednesday after witnesses said he grabbed a reporter for the Guardian newspaper and slammed him to the ground.

Gianforte: 4,471 — 65 percent
Quist: 2,104 — 30 percent
Wicks: 260 — 3 percent

681 of 681 precincts - 100 percent
Greg Gianforte, GOP 189,473 - 50 percent
Rob Quist, Dem 166,483 - 44 percent
Mark Wicks, Lib 21,509 - 6 percent
