KNPS members celebrate group's 20th anniversary
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 7 years, 10 months AGO
The Kinnikinnick Native Plant Society is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and today’s regular monthly meeting will focus on its history and accomplishments. The program is held from 9:45-11:30 a.m. at Sandpoint Community Hall.
Rae Charlton, immediate past president of KNPS, will review the creation of the Native Plant Arboretum adjacent to the Bonner County Historical Museum. Several people who were part of the process of transforming the southwest corner of Lakeview Park into the arboretum (1998-1999) will share memories. Carol Jenkins, also a past president of the organization and chair of the committee which created KNPS’ very successful book, “Landscaping With Native Plants in the Idaho Panhandle”, will summarize the history of that project and its relevance to current land use challenges. Please join KNPS members for the celebration and a piece of 20th birthday cake!
The program is sponsored by the Kinnikinnick Native Plant Society and Sandpoint Parks and Recreation.
